“Retrogradation”
light installation (ceramic insulators, metal, glass, ceramics) | variable size
2018Retrogradation in the title combines two kinds of aesthetics: one tribal, the other cosmic. Heads with four or eight faces look into four directions of the world, carrying the weight of planets like antique atlases. The totem illustrates the mythical relationship between human and nature: plants and animals, and natural phenomena, celestial bodies, geographical locations. Ceramic-glass pillars refer to man-made technology and civilization (electricity, subjugation of nature), but also feature zoomorphic elements (heads resemble cats, rabbits). Totems can be found on the border of postapocalyptic places in the middle of nowhere and areas still inhabited by people.
