“Future Perfect”

site-specific installation (objects, collages, ready-mades, audio)

2011

The audio-visual installation Future Perfect is a play of foretelling the near and distant future, it is an attempt to set a horoscope for the city of Sopot and its inhabitants. The installation is a collection of fictitious objects and documents connected with the history of the place. It is also an invented set of personal belongings of people whose fate is somehow intertwined with the fate of Sopot.
Future Perfect is a small imaginary and entirely non-modern museum of the future in the past, in which the leading voice of the lector plays the role of custodian. The past is completely mixed with the future here. The museum exhibits are not signed, therefore they only suggest something and do not offer any accurate information. The trip to this nonexistent museum is a travel to the past, it is like a trip to the SF movie from the sixties, which represents the future being our today present or a tour of the modernistic exhibition consisting of the art objects drawn from a long-forgotten gallery magazine. Abandoning any serious bussines, economic and political forecasts, let us take it with a pinch of salt and play fortune telling with tea leaves, the stars and the crystal ball.
